拒绝信用交易的要求时，当然不能贸然地一口就回绝。因为会提出信用交易的顾客，多半是已经交易多年，而且信用良好的好顾客。 如果真的必须加以拒绝时，言词上要谨慎婉转，千万不可失礼。 必须坚定而委婉地告知对方，信用交易的要求无法同意，但说明的理由要够充分，让对方能接受己方的主张。若是理由不够充分，甚至还让对方抱怨“那根本是不合理的”，这么一来 ，这个业务人员就不合格了。 除了直接委婉地拒绝外，还可以相对于对方的要求，提出条件较为严格的妥协案，如此也等于实质拒绝了。

表达的特色

无法同意对方所提列的条件时，应明确地加以拒绝，如此也是服务顾客的一种精神。但是在英文商业书信中，所讲求的却是正面肯定的表达。 就像在中文的表达里，我们通常会用比较迂回、婉转的方式来表达拒绝的意思，在英文书信中，更是极少用否定的语句来拒绝对方。 因此，在无法同意对方所要求的条件时，大多喜欢用It is our policy to only supply on  a straight cash basis （我们一贯的政策是仅以现金支付的方式交易）来表达，而尽量避免用be not able to allow you credit（无法同意信用交易的要求）的说法。 利用对方提出要求的同时，反过来用肯定的语句来贯彻己方的主张与作法，攻守之际都可以掌握。
