Minutes of a Meeting between Representatives of
Osman Industries and Kuen Wah Maintenance

Harry Fung, Inspection Engineer (Osman Industries) [Secretary]
Peter Koo, Maintenance Engineer (Kuen Wah Maintenance)
This meeting was held to look into the recent fire involving cooling tower 14 on the roof of the Tongtian Building in Tsimshatsui, and to make arrangements with Kuen Wah Maintenance regarding remedial work. Recommendations were also sought to help avoid such incidents happening again.
Mr Fung described the background to the incident, and produced photographs to sh ow the scene of the incident at the Tongtian Building.
Discussion then took place about possible causes of the incident, and it was gen erally agreed that the most probable cause was vandalism. Mr Clark suggested tha t tougher security measures should be introduced to combat vandalism, and recomm ended that closed circuit television might help.
Then, discussion turned to the remedial work. Mr Koo agreed to carry out this wo rk the following Wednesday (1 May). He also suggested that flame retardant paint could be applied to reduce the risk of another such incident, and offered to un dertake this work if required. Mr Clark replied that the matter would be conside red.
The possibility of introducting ADS fabricated cooling towers in the long term w as discussed, and it was agreed that a recommendation to this effect should be m ade to Senior Management.
Mr Clark concluded the meeting with a summary of the decisions reached. |
